It all begins with `/swap`

### Start a Swapping Conversation

**Swappy** works by using the `/swap` command in any channel. A new **private** thread will be started between you and Swappy to guide you towards a swap. Each step updates the same message, with **Back** and **Cancel** buttons along the way.

### Select your Source and Destination Asset

You start by selecting a **source** and **destination** asset for your swap from the available options.

### Decide the Amount to Send

Select the **amount** you wish to swap from the pre-defined amounts, or enter a **custom** amount.

### Input your Destination Address

You are offered an initial **quote** to give you an idea on how much you would receive. If you like the quote you can enter your **destination address** to receive the assets.

### Provide a Refund Address

Swappy applies a **slippage limit** of 2% to protect your swap from big price changes. Enter a **refund address** where your source assets are returned if that limit is hit.

### Review the Quote Price & Swap Details

**Swappy** will offer you a **quote** for the given swap. Here you can also **review your destination and refund address**. If you are happy with the quote, choose **🚀 Swap!**

### Make the Swap

[Chainflip](https://chainflip.io) will prepare the **swap** and create a **deposit address**. Send your **source assets** and use the **Chainflip Explorer** button to see the progress of your swap.

### Check the Swap Status

Use `/status` with your **reference number** at any time. Only you see the answer, with a **Chainflip Explorer** button for every detail.

### Follow the Swap Announcements

Every swap is announced in **#swaps** on the [Swappy Discord](https://discord.gg/wwzZ7a7aQn), without mentioning who made it. Once it completes, the announcement gets a ✅ and a reply with the amount received.

### Where can I get support?

### Are swaps linked to my Discord user?

Not in Swappy's swap records: they hold the swap under a **reference number**, which you can use for [support](https://discord.gg/wwzZ7a7aQn), and not who made it. Swappy's debug logs do note your Discord username and server next to the reference number, for 24 hours. See [Privacy](https://swappy.be/privacy).

### What happens when I make a mistake and lose my funds?

Swappy is not liable for user error. It is up to the user to follow instructions correctly. Possibly user mistakes: If a deposit address is copied incorrectly, the wrong funds are sent to a deposit address, the wrong amount is sent, or other users errors.

### Can I add Swappy to my own server?

Yes, use the [Add to Discord](https://discord.com/api/oauth2/authorize?client_id=1200178122495111268&permissions=343597435968&scope=applications.commands+bot) button. Once Swappy is in your server, anyone there can use `/swap`, `/quote` and `/status`, and every swap still happens in its own private thread.

### Is there a minimum amount?

Yes, every asset has its own minimum, for example 0.0007 BTC or 0.01 ETH. If a custom amount is below it, Swappy tells you right away so you can pick another.

### What if the price moves before my swap?

Swappy sets a minimum price 2% below your quote. If the market moves further than that, Chainflip keeps retrying the swap for a while, and if the price doesn't come back, your deposit is sent back to the **refund address** you gave.

### Do I need to connect my wallet?

No, you do not need to connect your wallet to Swappy. No assets are touched by Swappy, we only facilitate the creation of a swap on [Chainflip](https://chainflip.io).

### How long does a swap take?

The duration of a swap depends on the chains involved in the swap. Transactions used for a swap happen on-chain towards and from [Chainflip](https://chainflip.io).

### Can I follow up my swap?

The deposit instructions come with a **Chainflip Explorer** button that shows the progress of your swap. You can also check it any time with `/status` and your swap's **reference number**; only you see the answer.

### Can I get a quote without swapping?

Yes, use `/quote` with an amount, the asset to swap from and the asset to swap to. Only you see the quote, and its **Start Swapping** button opens a swap for you.

### What if I send a different amount?

Send exactly the amount from your quote, within an hour. Anything above it is still swapped, but at the market rate at that moment instead of your quote.

### How long can I use my deposit address?

Only for a limited time. The **Chainflip Explorer** button in your deposit instructions shows whether your deposit channel is still **Open** and the block at which it expires. Make sure your funds arrive before then: funds sent to an expired deposit address can't be recovered.
