# About Swappy

Swappy is a Discord bot for swapping cryptocurrencies across blockchains. It runs on the [Chainflip](https://chainflip.io) protocol, which swaps native assets between chains without wrapped tokens or bridges. Swappy has been swapping for Discord users since 2024.

## What Swappy does

Type `/swap` in a channel of any server where Swappy is installed. Swappy opens a private thread with you and walks you through the swap one step at a time: the asset you send, the asset you receive, the amount, your destination address and a refund address. You see a quote before anything happens. When you accept, Chainflip opens a deposit address for your swap; you send the funds from your own wallet, and Chainflip delivers the swapped asset to your destination address.

Two more commands help along the way. `/quote` prices any pair without starting a swap, and `/status` shows how a swap is doing from its reference number. Only you see their answers.

## How it works

- **Non-custodial:** Swappy never holds your funds and never asks you to connect a wallet. Your deposit goes to a Chainflip deposit address, and Chainflip sends the output straight to the address you gave.
- **Protected against price moves:** every swap has a minimum price 2% below its quote. If the market moves further than that, Chainflip keeps retrying the swap for a while, and if the price doesn't come back, your deposit is sent back to your refund address.
- **Public by design:** swaps happen on public blockchains and can be followed on the [Chainflip Explorer](https://scan.chainflip.io). Swappy announces every swap in Discord channels, including #swaps on the Swappy Discord, without mentioning who made it.

## Supported networks

Bitcoin, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Solana, Polkadot Asset Hub and Tron, with BTC, ETH, FLIP, USDC, USDT, WBTC, SOL, DOT and TRX. The [homepage](https://swappy.be/) lists which assets are available on which network.

## The broker behind the swaps

Every Chainflip swap goes through a broker, which opens the deposit channel.
